Absztrakt (kivonat)

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing finance by automating tasks that involve a lot of routine data work and by reshaping the job of finance professionals. This thesis looks at whether AI is replacing or mainly helping finance and accounting professionals. It does this through a detailed study of how Wolt's Accounts Payable (AP) department started using the Rossum system which uses AI to process documents. The study used a qualitative method based on existing data, comparing workflows, and evaluating tasks. The goal was to see how AI changes the speed of invoice processing, data quality, and the distribution of responsibility within the finance team. The findings show that AI significantly improves how work is done by reducing manual data entry, lowering errors, and allowing invoices to be handled consistently across different markets. However, automating routine tasks doesn't eliminate the need for human skills. Instead, professionals focus more on exceptions, interpreting data, communicating across departments, and ensuring accurate control. This change reflects a broader shift in accounting, where value now comes more from analysis, supervision, and understanding context rather than just mechanical processing. The research also highlights that successful AI integration depends on how ready the company is. This readiness includes data quality, system integration, governance, and employees being prepared. These factors determine how much AI improves workflows and supports professional development. The study concludes that AI acts as a tool that helps rather than one that replaces staff in Accounts Payable. It serves as a catalyst for evolving job roles and higher skill requirements in modern finance. The results contribute to the ongoing discussion about the future of accounting work and offer practical advice for companies considering automation projects.
