Absztrakt (kivonat)
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on global economies, individuals’ financial behaviours, and investment patterns. Before pandemic, financial awareness and investment decisions were influenced by relatively stable economic conditions. However, the beginning of the pandemic triggered significant uncertainty in global markets, forcing a shift in how people approached their finances. Stock market volatility, government Incentive packages, job losses, and shifts in consumer spending habits created a new financial landscape. With many people's incomes drying up in the pandemic-inflicted crisis and those that could still work worried about their job security, a lot of the population started reassessing their investment choices, with some choosing a more cautious approach like cutting off investments or focusing on savings. At the same time, some adopted a braver approach, making bets on up-and-coming industries like tech, or green investments, through market downswings. In the post-pandemic phase, individuals have faced a new set of financial hurdles. While some economic recovery has been seen, inflationary pressures, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical uncertainties have left many wondering on how to manage their finances moving forward. This has led to an increased focus on financial literacy and awareness, as more people seek to educate themselves on personal finance and investment strategies. This research tries to find out the evolution of financial awareness and investment strategies in three important phases that are pre, post, and during COVID-19. It seeks to analyse whether the transition in financial behaviour during the pandemic was temporary or indicative of a more long-term change. Understanding these dynamics will provide valuable insights into how individuals have adapted their financial strategies to the new economic facts, and whether the alteration in financial awareness and investment habits is likely to persist in the post-pandemic world.
