Absztrakt (kivonat)

This thesis examines the role of tourism in promoting economic growth in Pakistan, a country rich in natural and cultural resources but marked by a consistently underperforming tourism industry. The report analyzes persistent patterns in international arrivals, domestic tourist participation, tourism's influence on GDP, and Pakistan's position within South Asia. It also looks at challenges with governance, structural issues, and policy gaps that make it difficult for the country to use tourism to boost its economy. The study utilizes a qualitative-interpretive framework, augmented by descriptive statistical analysis, drawing on secondary data from entities such as UNWTO, WTTC, the World Bank, PTDC, and the Government of Pakistan. The methodology enables the analysis of trends, patterns, and contextual factors that affect the progression of tourism in Pakistan throughout time.
