This thesis undertakes a comparative analysis of the influence of traditional financial education versus social media financial influencers, commonly referred to as "finfluencers," on the financial behaviors of young adults aged 18 to 35 in Morocco and Hungary. The research addresses a significant gap in understanding how these sources of information operate within differing regulatory and cultural contexts. Employing a mixed-methods approach that encompasses both surveys and content analysis, the study delineates two distinct ecosystems. In Morocco, an "informal social influence" model is predominant, wherein finfluencers command a high degree of trust due to their relatable discourse on fundamental financial topics. Nonetheless, a notable "perception-action gap" is evident, as this trust does not extend to higher-risk investments such as cryptocurrency, which remain largely underrepresented among respondents. Conversely, Hungary exhibits a "diversified institutional model," with influence emanating from formal education, familial sources, and finfluencers alike. In this context, interactions with finfluencers are positively associated with cryptocurrency investment, while trust in traditional educational resources correlates with participation in the stock market. Qualitative analysis further demonstrates that national regulatory frameworks significantly shape these differences. Hungary's EU-driven regulations promote a professionalized finfluencer culture characterized by transparency, whereas Morocco's selective prohibitions lead finfluencers to adopt a more cautious role in fostering foundational financial skills. Ultimately, the study concludes that the impact of finfluencers is contextually dependent, emphasizing the need for integrated strategies that harness the advantages of both traditional and digital educational avenues to enhance financial literacy.
