This thesis investigates the role of venture capital and alternative fundraising methods, including angel investment, crowdfunding, grants, and bootstrapping, in the performance of early-stage startups in Hungary. Using qualitative semi-structured interviews with six diverse founders, it examines funding strategies and instruments such as convertible notes and SAFEs, alongside outcomes like revenue growth, hiring, and market expansion. Findings indicate no single optimal approach exists; success depends on business model alignment, founder experience, and local regulatory factors, with bootstrapping supporting initial validation prior to external funding. The study bridges theoretical insights and practical guidance for Hungarian entrepreneurs.
