Absztrakt (kivonat)
The study investigates how attention-driven digital content influences the investment behaviour of international students in Hungary, while also examining the relationships between fintech usage, financial literacy, and trust in financial systems. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected through an online questionnaire of 107 international students, and the results were analysed using Cronbach’s Alpha to check for internal consistency between the Likert-scaled items, and correlation and descriptive statistical methods. The findings revealed a moderate positive relationship between attention-driven digital exposure and investment behaviour among international students, suggesting thatexposure to algorithmic feeds, influencer content, and peer communities is associated with increased participation in investment-related activities. The study also found that fintech usage is positively correlated with financial literacy, however no significant correlation was found between financial literacy and trust in financial systems. Furthermore, the correlation between fintech usage and trust in financial systems indicated a weak positive relationship, suggesting that students who actively engage with fintech platforms are somewhat likely to trust in financial institutions and digital services to safeguard their personal data, process transactions reliably, and maintain systems capable of preventing fraud or identity theft. The widespread adoption of fintech services, particularly mobile payment apps and online investment platforms, highlight the growing reliance of international students on digital financial tools for convenience, accessibility, and necessity. Overall, the findings highlight that fostering trust in digital platforms and encouraging responsible investment behaviour among young, internationally mobile populations requires more than just imparting knowledge or awareness; it calls for practical learning experiences that connect online engagement with real financial decision-making.
