Absztrakt (kivonat)

Sustainability and its means of application are broad and yet still greatly pursued particularly with agriculture. In this sense, the study pursues it in the approach of co-creation by combining European Union initiatives to that of Philippine agriculture systems to maximize its sustainability potential. As such, Philippine agripreneurs can enhance sustainable agricultural practices by taking inspiration from existing European Union cooperative initiatives. The study employed a qualitative and exploratory design joined together by secondary literature and primary interviews. The investigation discovered major EU sustainability models that meet the Philippine context, a combination of two approaches which was the top-down Farm-to-Fork strategy and the bottom-up cooperative learning frameworks. It then compares these with the realities of the Philippine agri-sector which have been mostly characterized by significant structural barriers comprising of fragmented markets, insufficient learning pathways, inadequate financial access and weakened institutional support. The analysis recognizes a critical gap between the developed European Union ecosystem and the developing or underdeveloped yet driven Philippine context. In response, this study proposes a four-phase framework tailored and context-specific to the Philippines and the people behind their agricultural prowess. The framework outlines a cycle of trust-building, joint diagnosis, unified action and institutionalization. The proposed framework aims not to replicate EU models directly but adapt it to the underlying principles of collaborative governance and shared learning, accordingly empowering Philippine agripreneurs to become an integral part as active co-designers of a more resilient and sustainable agricultural future for generations to come.
