This study explores how overtourism affects everyday life in Spain, with a closer look at its impact on Barcelona, Valencia, and Malaga, through the voices of local residents. While tourism brings economic value, many shared concerns about rising rents, loss of public spaces, and feeling increasingly excluded from their own neighbourhoods. These are not just complaints, they reflect a deep desire for more thoughtful and inclusive tourism. The findings highlight the need for policies that protect both community well-being and the long-term sustainability of urban tourism.
