SummaryThe main purpose of this study was to determine the impact of major sporting events on tourist motivation, especially in developing countries like Kazakhstan. This document analyses how major sporting events such as the 2011 Asian Winter Games, as well as major business and innovation events such as EXPO 2017, have contributed to the development of infrastructure, increased international recognition of the country and increased tourist flows. The theoretical part mainly examines the main modules of motivation in tourism, such as the push-pull theory or the event tourism model. Examples of successful and unsuccessful experiences hosting Mega Sport events in developing countries were also given. The research methodology consists of several popular models, such as social media analysis, in-depth interviews, and comparative analysis of the aftereffects of sports events in Russia, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Both the positive sides, such as infrastructure development, the growth of international and local tourism, and the negative sides, such as insufficient marketing support from the government, lack of financing and developed sports infrastructure. In conclusion, Kazakhstan's main idea is to work with brand managers and marketers to find a Kazakhstani superpower, such as the entertainment or business events industry, where the country already has a significant impact on the Central Asian region. By developing a comprehensive approach to planning, marketing and using the infrastructure after the event, we will be able to maintain the effectiveness of mega-sporting events in the future.
