Absztrakt (kivonat)

This research explores the shifting global economic and geopolitical order shaped by the rise of China and India, with a particular focus on China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and India’s evolving economic strategies. As two of the world’s most populous and economically influential nations, China and India are not only redefining their roles on the global stage but also reshaping international trade networks, regional alliances, and institutional influence. The study begins by establishing the strategic importance of both countries in the contemporary global economic order. It outlines core research questions and objectives focused on understanding how the BRI and India’s counter-initiatives influence global trade, power balances, and development trajectories, especially in emerging economies. Chapter 2 delves into China’s BRI — a global infrastructure and investment strategy aimed at enhancing connectivity and expanding China’s economic reach. It analyzes the geopolitical motives behind the BRI, its impact on trade routes and infrastructure development, and its influence on emerging economies. This section also examines the complex and often tense bilateral relationship between China and India, considering how their divergent economic models and political systems shape their respective global strategies. It discusses their economic competitiveness, productivity, and how the United States and other powers respond to their rise. Chapter 3 outlines the analytical approach, emphasizing a comparative methodology that contrasts China’s BRI with India’s strategies such as the “Make in India” initiative and efforts to become a global manufacturing hub. It details the sources of secondary data, including economic reports, policy papers, and institutional publications, while also addressing the limitations and ethical considerations of the research. Chapter 4 expands on the competing economic visions of China and India. It examines how each country seeks to shape global trade networks and supply chains. Particular attention is given to China’s recent economic deceleration and India’s demographic advantage, which could fuel sustained growth if properly harnessed. The chapter further analyzes how both nations pursue economic policies with strong geopolitical overtones and assesses their influence on global institutions and technological advancement. Chapter 5 evaluates the broader implications of the BRI and India’s alternative strategies on the global economic order. It investigates how these initiatives shift power dynamics, influence global trade infrastructure, and impact economic development in partner countries. The analysis also considers issues such as debt dependency, sovereignty, and trade diversification. Finally, Chapter 6 projects the future trajectory of China-India economic relations, especially in light of geopolitical tensions, economic competition, and global trade realignments. The study concludes that while China’s BRI offers a bold vision for global economic integration under Beijing’s leadership, India presents a strategic alternative emphasizing sovereignty, democratic governance, and multilateral cooperation. This research contributes to understanding the strategic rivalry and cooperation between China and India in reshaping the global economic landscape, offering insights for policymakers, scholars, and international stakeholders navigating this evolving geopolitical environment.
