Absztrakt (kivonat)

This thesis explores the role of risk management in engineering projects operating under strict time constraints, using Bosch’s Cabin Sensing Radar (CSR) development as a case study. The urgency of complying with evolving U.S. vehicle safety regulations has significantly impacted the project’s timeline, introducing a high degree of complexity and uncertainty. To examine these challenges, a mixed-method approach was applied, combining literature review, internal documentation analysis, and semi-structured interviews with Bosch project managers. The study first provides a general overview of risk management theory and tools, followed by an in-depth look at how Bosch implements these practices in real-world projects. The MMC 5k45 CSR project serves as the primary focus for analyzing risk identification, assessment, and mitigation. Based on the findings, the thesis offers targeted recommendations, such as improving engineer training, streamlining internal processes, and integrating cross-functional collaboration. The study confirms that effective and proactive risk management is essential for the success of fast-paced development projects. Without it, delays, inefficiencies, and missed business opportunities can seriously threaten project outcomes. The insights gained contribute to broader project management practices and may serve as valuable guidance for similar projects across the industry.
