Absztrakt (kivonat)

The evolution of public fintech infrastructure in India has transformed the country's financial and business ecosystems, with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and RuPay card networks serving as key pillars of this change. This thesis investigates the role and impact of public fintech platforms on the business sector, with a particular focus on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Through an in-depth case study approach, the research analyzes adoption patterns, business integration, financial performance outcomes, and policy alignment using quantitative data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and other governmental and academic sources. Findings reveal that UPI and RuPay have significantly lowered transaction costs, enhanced digital payment adoption, improved financial inclusion, and provided small businesses with better access to formal credit systems through transaction-based financial footprints. The study also highlights how initiatives like Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat have synergistically supported fintech growth, creating a self-reliant digital economy. Empirical data points to a strong positive correlation between digital payment adoption and improved cash flow management, operational efficiency, and business expansion opportunities for MSMEs. However, challenges remain regarding regional disparities in usage, merchant onboarding, cybersecurity risks, and ensuring long-term economic sustainability of zero-fee models. The thesis concludes by recommending strategic policy measures to sustain the momentum of public fintech innovations and proposes future research directions on integrating emerging technologies like AI, blockchain, and CBDCs with public digital financial infrastructure. By focusing on India's homegrown platforms, this study offers insights into the transformative potential of state-supported fintech ecosystems in accelerating economic inclusion, boosting business productivity, and shaping the future of digital economies globally.
