ABSTRACTThis thesis examines the structure, performance, and adaptability of distributorship models in Kyrgyzstan, a landlocked transitional economy in the heart of Central Asia. As the country continues to develop its commercial infrastructure and deepen its integration into regional and global markets, efficient and resilient distributorship frameworks are crucial to sustaining business competitiveness and economic growth. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of current distributorship practices, determine the problems experienced by market actors, and consider potential strategic improvements that are relevant to the country’s changing business environment. The research uses a convergent mixed-methods approach combining qualitative and quantitative data to accomplish these objectives. Ten semi-structured interviews were held with representatives of ten distributorship companies from different sectors, such as consumer goods, food and agriculture, construction materials, and industrial equipment. Participants were chosen through purposive sampling to guarantee sectoral and experiential diversity. The interviews offered practical insights into the realities of distributorship operations, including regulatory constraints, logistical hurdles, market access issues, and supplier relations. Thematic saturation was reached after the tenth interview, which showed a high level of consistency in stakeholder perspectives. The study also examines trade and market performance data to ground qualitative findings and identify patterns regarding distribution efficiency, market penetration, and scalability. By incorporating data from multiple sources and analytical perspectives, methodological triangulation increases the validity and reliability of the results. The research findings present several operational inefficiencies but also present newopportunities for digitalization, regional cooperation, and infrastructure investment. The study ends with recommendations for improving distributorship effectiveness in Kyrgyzstan, with implications for other emerging markets in the process of economic transformation and supply chain modernization.
