Absztrakt (kivonat)

as passionate I am for Budapest Business University (BBU) and a commitment to sustainability, I chose this research topic to explore how sustainability is fostered within BBU’s education system. As future business leaders in a world facing pressing environmental issues like global warming, it is essential for us to build eco-conscious habits and awareness. Sustainability is increasingly relevant today, making it important that universities like BBU actively integrate sustainable practices among students. This study examines the impact of BBU’s efforts to integrate sustainability into its culture, assessing students' awareness before and after joining the university. Through focus group interviews with students from the Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality, and Tourism (FCHT) and the Faculty of International Management and Business (FIMB), the research highlights students' strong interest in sustainability. Findings show that FCHT has made more visible progress with sustainability initiatives, though both faculties have room to grow, especially in offering more practical, hands-on opportunities for students to apply their knowledge. Notably, two students have already incorporated sustainable practices into their workplaces, reflecting the real-world influence of BBU’s initiatives. This research underscores the critical role of sustainability in higher education, particularly as students prepare to become responsible business owners in an eco-conscious world.the resumeThe goal of the Research: This study examines how Budapest Business University promotes sustainability within its education system. By comparing students' sustainable awareness before and after they join BBU, the research aims to assess whether the university is successfully encouraging sustainable values and practices or not andif there’s room for improvement. This research will examine these three questions below. How important is it for Budapest Business University to promote sustainability, and does it affect the university's reputation? In what ways has BBU influenced its students’ sustainable behaviors and awareness, and how have these changes affected their professional lives as future business leaders? Are there areas where BBU could improve its sustainability initiatives, or is the university already heading in the right direction? Research methodology used in the paper Primary and secondary research secondary research in-depth review of literature and case studies on integrating sustainability into higher education provides insights on how universities can promote sustainable practices. Primary Research: Focus Group Interviews the focus group interviews students from two faculties the Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality, and Tourism and the Faculty of International Management and Business The interviews revealed strong student interest in sustainability, with FCHT showing more visible progress in campus projects and lectures. However, both faculties have room for growth, with a need for more initiative by professors and students alike, The focus group revealed that students already had a solid understanding of sustainability, which deepened over their years at the university. Notably, two students successfully integrated sustainable practices into their workplaces. However, many students expressed frustration that, while the university offers multiple courses on sustainability, 90% of them are eager for more hands-on projects or real competitions to apply their knowledge practically.
