Absztrakt (kivonat)

This thesis investigates the operational challenges during seasonal demand surges in air freight logistics and in last-mile delivery services in Hungary, with a focus on E-commerce. The aim of the paper is to identify common causes of delivery delays and understand their impact on the overall supply chain. Also, exploring the logistics field and seeking for solutions to improve operations during peak periods in order to enhance customer satisfaction and meet expectations. The paper employs both primary and secondary research. Secondary data was gathered by using existing literature, books, case studies, and reports that are related to the topic. Primary research was conducted through online questionnaire targeting Hungarian E-commerce consumers by using the snowball sampling method. The survey collected data on customer experiences, preferences, and behaviours during low- and high demand seasons. The results were analysed to identify relationships and correlations between the demographics, periods, and logistics performance. The findings revealed that delays significantly impact customer satisfaction and loyalty, especially during the peak seasons. Aspects like delivery speed, service reliability, and expenses were found to be highly important for consumers, while environmentally friendly solutions were less prioritized. The study concludes that logistics provider must optimise operations through better demand forecasting, and improved risk and capacity management. It also highlights the importance of understanding demographic-specific preferences in order to enhance overall customer satisfaction. The thesis provides a comprehensive understanding of delivery delays and offers recommendations how those can be mitigated.
