Absztrakt (kivonat)
This thesis explores the integration of sustainability within higher education, focusing on Budapest Business University (BBU) and its impact on student awareness, behaviors, and sustainable practices. The study evaluates how BBU incorporates sustainability into its curricula, initiatives, and campus culture, specifically examining the Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism (FCHT) and the Faculty of International Management and Business (FIMB). By investigating these faculties, the research aims to uncover how sustainability education shapes student perspectives and prepares them to become environmentally conscious business leaders.Through a combination of primary and secondary research, including focus group interviews and content analysis, the thesis identifies strengths, gaps, and opportunities in BBU's sustainability strategies. The findings reveal that while students begin their studies with varying levels of knowledge about sustainability, their understanding and practices evolve significantly due to experiential learning, collaborative projects, and faculty-specific initiatives. However, discrepancies in curriculum depth and engagement between faculties highlight the need for broader integration of sustainability courses. The study proposes actionable recommendations to enhance sustainability at BBU, such as expanding interdisciplinary curricula, organizing practical workshops, fostering student leadership through dedicated sustainability hubs, and improving communication strategies to raise awareness of existing initiatives. By addressing these areas, BBU can strengthen its role as a leader in sustainability education, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to address pressing environmental challenges. This research underscores the pivotal role universities play in promoting sustainability, emphasizing that institutions like BBU are not only shaping individual behaviors but also contributing to global efforts for a sustainable future.
