This thesis examines the role and financial sustainability of nonprofit organizations in our profit-driven world. It explores the origins and historical development of nonprofit organizations and their regional comparisons to provide the basis for a comprehensive analysis. It examines their financial and funding strategies to identify the challenges and opportunities they face. It provides insights into the diversity of nonprofits through comparative analysis and in-depth interviews, highlighting the differences between nonprofits in developed and developing countries. It also shows the specific situation of Hungarian nonprofits, providing a local perspective in a global context.
