Absztrakt (kivonat)
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has been crucial in propelling Vietnam's economic development and positioning it as a key player in the manufacturing sector, which is considered one of the backbones of Vietnam's economy. This thesis investigates the pivotal role of FDI flow movements in enhancing Vietnam's standing within the Global Value Chain (GVC) in the manufacturing industry. Qualitative method was conducted by interviewing experts in this field. This research includes a multifaceted examination of FDI flow determinants and GVC integration strategies. Moreover, six factors that the movement of FDI can impact GVC in the manufacturing industry will play an important role in investigating. These factors include Participation Scope within Global Value Chains; Supply Chain Systems and Infrastructures; Value-Added and Market Access; Introduction of New Technologies and Production Processes; Workforce Training and Development; Adaptation, and Innovation. The dissertation also examines the strategies employed by multinational corporations (MNCs) to enhance Vietnam's role within the GVC, such as technology transfer and industrial upgrading. The findings viewed that the contribution of the manufacturing sector to the creation of value-added of Vietnam is limited as this sector is still only at the assembling stage in the value chain. Nevertheless, the findings confirm the role of FDI in leveraging Vietnam’s GVC position by facilitating transferring the technologies and training workforce. these activities assist the country in in improving GVC and Moving up the Value chain. This study holds broader significance for emerging economies navigating the complex terrain of FDI and GVCs. In conclusion, this research advances the understanding of the symbiotic relationship between FDI flow movements and GVC participation, illuminating pathways for future economic growth and development in Vietnam and beyond.
