Absztrakt (kivonat)

In the contemporary business landscape, corporate finance stands as a critical pillar for the sustenance and growth of medium to small firms. This study delves into the dynamic realm of corporate finance, focusing particularly on its implications and challenges within the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the European Union’s economy. As (SMEs) play an increasingly vital role in driving innovation, generating employment, and fostering global economic development, understanding the nuances of corporate finance becomes imperative for their survival and success.Through an extensive review of the literature and empirical analysis, this research examines the unique financial dynamics that confront medium to small firms in the current business environment. It investigates the various sources of finance available to SMEs, including traditional banking loans, venture capital, angel investors, crowdfunding, and governmental support programs. Moreover, it explores the impact of technological advancements and digitalisation on the financial operations and strategies of SMEs, emphasising the growing importance of fintech solutions, online lending platforms, and digital payment systems.Furthermore, this study sheds light on the challenges and barriers that medium to small firms encounter in accessing finance, such as asymmetric information, collateral requirements, regulatory constraints, and risk aversion among investors. It analyses the role of financial intermediaries, government policies, and institutional frameworks in facilitating access to finance for SMEs and fostering an encouraging environment for their growth and innovation. The findings of this research contribute to a deeper understanding of the intricacies of corporate finance in the contemporary business landscape, offering valuable insights for policymakers, financial practitioners, and SME stakeholders. By identifying key trends, challenges, and opportunities in SME finance, this study aims to inform strategic decision-making and policy formulation aimed at enhancing the financial resilience and competitiveness of medium to small enterprises in today's world.
