Absztrakt (kivonat)

This thesis explores the multifaceted implications of Chinese investment programs, primarily driven by the Belt and Road Initiative, on the countries of Central Asia. Through a mixed-method approach encompassing case studies, expert interviews, survey, document analysis, and quantitative data collection, the research investigates the economic, political, and socio-cultural dynamics shaping China's engagement with the region. The study reveals that Chinese investment programs have significant potential to stimulate economic growth, infrastructure development, and job creation in Central Asia. However, they also pose inherent risks, including debt dependency and concerns over sovereignty. Furthermore, the research uncovers diverse perceptions of China among Central Asian populations, influenced by factors such as economic interests, cultural exchanges, and geopolitical considerations. Key findings highlight the importance of transparent and equitable partnerships between China and Central Asian nations, emphasizing the need for careful navigation of geopolitical complexities and safeguarding of national interests. The thesis concludes with recommendations for policymakers, urging a balanced approach to maximize the benefits of engagement with China while mitigating associated risks. Overall, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the evolving relationship between China and Central Asia, offering insights into its impact on regional development, governance structures, and societal dynamics.
