Absztrakt (kivonat)
In our quickly developing world, we must manage all the changes professionally, and tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. Planning and destination management are essential components of the tourism sector. The dynamic nature of the global tourism scene necessitates the adoption of sustainable and strategic approaches to effectively manage destinations. Researching destination management and planning enables us to investigate how theoretical ideas are applied in the real world. By examining and understanding this topic, we can identify practical strategies and solutions that can be implemented to enhance the overall tourism experience and the sustainability of a destination. Destination management stands close to different formulations of policies that could support aspects in various levels of tourism, from local to international. Even though Granada is not one of the biggest cities in Spain, as it is the 18th on the list, the city still has a crucial role as an emerging tourism destination. Granda is in the heart of the Andalusian Region in the south, and it holds a rich historical and cultural past. The city is mainly popular because of the UNESCO World Heritage monument; the Alhambra, but other significant sights attract crowds of visitors; like the Albayzín Quarter, Sierra Nevada Mountain, or the Feria de Granada. Moreover, Granada is the number one Erasmus destination in Europe thanks to its outstanding university system and further educational opportunities. This topic is personally important to me, as I had the chance to study in Granada for a whole academic year with the Erasmus mobility program, where I had the opportunity to learn more about Granada and Andalusian tourism, culture, and people. During my trips, I explored different provinces and cities to examine the mixture of cultures and traditions and how they are developing separately. In my year abroad I had a subject on sustainable destination management and planning, and I realized how much this topic is interesting for me. The main objective of my thesis is to present Granada's tourism, identify problem areas in tourism, and propose solutions. The goal is to have a detailed overview of how we can manage and develop tourism growth in a sustainable way to prevent several future tourism effects.
