Abstract

This research investigates the administration of public transportation along Jalan Malioboro in Yogyakarta and identifies the factors impeding its effective management.Qualitative methodology is employed to comprehend the experiencesof relevant stakeholders comprehensively, focusing on behaviors, perceptions, motivations, and actions. The study, conducted within the Malioboro streetarea, involves interviews, observations, and documentation, with participantsincluding government officials and public transportation operators.Findings reveal that management efforts involve multiple entities, including the Transportation Office, the Regional Settlement andInfrastructure Office, and the Malioboro Area Technical Implementation Unit, primarily focusing on traffic engineering, provision of infrastructure, andregulatory measures. Despite governmental interventions aimed at mitigatingtransportation challenges along Malioboro street, persistent obstacles remain, including economic hardships faced by vendors and parking attendants, socialfactors, and geographical constraints.
