Absztrakt (kivonat)

This comprehensive thesis delves into the intricate relationship between the size of a company and its crisis management strategies, utilizing various research methods such as surveys and real-world case studies. The primary goal is to provide a holistic understanding of how organizations of different sizes navigate and respond to crises in their operational landscapes. The survey analysis uncovers compelling insights, indicating that larger companies exhibit a heightened sense of urgency in their crisis response efforts. Additionally, these sizable entities allocate more substantial budgets for crisis management, displaying a clear inclination towards prioritizing financial resources. The preference for flexible communication strategies among larger companies adds another layer to the complex interplay between company size and critical aspects of crisis response. The real-world case studies embedded in this research serve as vivid and illuminating illustrations, offering tangible examples of the diverse crisis management approaches adopted by companies across different sizes and industries. From mid-sized tech companies adeptly addressing data breaches to large renewable energy companies navigating complex environmental incidents and small family-owned businesses flexibly adapting to supplier closures, these cases underscore the tailored strategies aligning with both company size and industry characteristics. The implications of this study resonate across multiple sectors, reaching practitioners, policymakers, and researchers alike. Moving beyond theoretical discourse, the study translates its findings into practical and customized recommendations tailored to businesses of varying sizes. A central advocacy is for a personalized crisis management approach, acknowledging and accommodating the diverse strengths and challenges faced by small, medium-sized, and large enterprises. Additionally, the study underscores the necessity for specific guidelines tailored for policymakers, urging the creation of an adaptive crisis response environment that caters to the unique needs of organizations across different sizes. The diverse contributions to knowledge in this study stand as a testament to its significance in enriching our understanding of the complex interplay between company size and crisis management. The identification of distinctive response patterns, the illumination of case study revelations, the formulation of tailored recommendations, and the comprehensive exploration of complex dynamics collectively represent substantial strides in advancing the field. These contributions not only provide actionable guidance for practitioners but also establish a robust foundation for future research endeavors in the ever-evolving realm of crisis management.Acknowledging inherent limitations, such as industry specificity and potential survey bias, the study takes a proactive stance by encouraging the inclusion of diverse participant backgrounds in future research endeavors. This commitment to diversity underscores the importance of ensuring a representative and inclusive sample, enhancing the study's external validity. Furthermore, the study advocates for innovative research methodologies to enhance objectivity, suggesting the incorporation of longitudinal approaches and the expansion of the scope of case studies as strategic measures to refine and advance crisis management scholarship.Looking ahead, the study offers a forward-thinking perspective on the ongoing relevance of its findings. By proposing the adoption of longitudinal approaches, it anticipates the evolving nature of organizational landscapes and crisis scenarios. The call for broader case study scopes reflects a commitment to staying attuned to the dynamic nature of crises, acknowledging that a singular approach may not encapsulate the myriad challenges organizations face.In short, this thesis stands as a substantial and comprehensive contribution to the field of crisis management. Through a meticulous blend of survey analysis, real-world case studies, and thoughtful recommendations, it not only addresses the present challenges but lays the groundwork for future exploration and understanding of crisis response dynamics in organizations of different sizes. The depth and breadth of this research ensure its lasting impact and relevance in the ever-evolving landscape of organizational crises.
