Absztrakt (kivonat)

Since the life altering events of the Covid-19 pandemic, the promotion of teleworking is more and more common and in many different forms. This new way of working that was suddenly introduced in the modern workplaces, raises questions to companies and managers about its effectiveness and long-term viability. This research focuses on how some of the main factors of employee work performance, like motivation and job satisfaction are impacted by working remotely, as well as its effects on performance itself and productivity. The aim is to investigate these important aspects related to remote work and find patterns and factors that directly impact performance in these recently adopted working settings utilizing real world information and ultimately answering these questions. A survey was conducted to collect the necessary data and provide quantitative information for this research. The 100 valid participants of the survey were all employees of multination companies located in Hungary, working in hybrid structured working environments. The involvement of workers from many different departments like; HR, IT, management, and accounting, was intentional with the reason to represent a wider range of workers of the industry. With the help of statistical analysis, bar charts and cross tabulations, the findings indicate that the availability of telework is positively affecting job satisfaction, motivation, and work-life balance. It is also important to note that a direct connection has been identified between these aspects and workers’ performance and productivity, demonstrating a beneficial impact on employee output itself as well. While it was found that organizations are mostly well equipped and well adjusted for home office workers, the findings indicated that there are areas for companies to improve on. By investing in trainings and guidance on how to cope with the challenges of remote work, companies can enhance worker performance, as well as with the investment in leadership trainings. Leaders play an even bigger role in these settings than in tradition in-office workspace, thus having competent and well-trained managers is crucial to maintain employee performance. As a significantly positive impact has been demonstrated by the findings of the research in terms of impacts of telework, companies should also not be afraid to embrace the promotion of remote work as it provides many benefits both to employers and employees.
