Absztrakt (kivonat)
Modern slavery and forced labour can be found in the supply chains of a great number of products, which are utilised on a daily basis and the consumers barely or do not even notice it. In the research the answer to the question of: What is the current state and what are the possible mitigation methods to reduce the risk of forced labour in a supply chain, will be found. The issue raises great concerns in the largest companies in the world like Apple, Intel, Nokia, Hitachi and many others. Not only the imported coffee from Brazil, and the mined gold, silver and iron ores from Ghana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, but approximately more than 150 goods are produced with forced labour. On a global scale, more than 50 Million people work under harmful and exploitative conditions, and even within the European Union 26% of total human exploitation is forced labour. In the research paper, light is going to be shed on this issue and a solution will be searched in order to mitigate the number of people oppressed in forced labour conditions in the future because the European Union's new legislation has made great efforts against it. These new rules might restructure the supply chain and result in new business models. The secondary research finds the roots of the issue at hand, and the newest legislations of national governments are researched, in order to gain a better understanding of the actions of the world leaders. In the primary research, the surveyed group were the students to gain an impression of their knowledge and literacy of forced labour as of October 2023.
