Research Background: China1.2 Research Rationale: The urban-rural income disparity is a critical aspect of China's development differences. The resulting income polarization could undermine social and economic stability, hindering overall economic growth. A substantial income gap, when the per capita GDP is relatively high, can restrict economic growth. In recent years, the urban-rural income gap has become a significant obstacle to China's economic transformation towards high-quality development. This goes against the original intent of economic reforms and development, leading to intensified social conflicts and reduced living standards. While policies have reduced the relative income gap, the absolute income gap continues to expand, signifying a pressing issue that must be addressed urgently.1.3 Research Question and Objectives: This study aims to investigate the dynamic evolution of China's urban-rural income gap from 2013 to 2019 using national data published by the National Bureau of Statistics. The research seeks to evaluate the income gap, identify key driving factors, and provide policy recommendations for reducing this disparity. The study also aims to align with rural revitalization goals and propose an optimized path based on provincial-level spatial units' urban-rural income distribution patterns.In summary, this study has the following objectives:To analyze China's urban-rural income gap with real data.To identify the key factors driving the urban-rural income gap.To propose policy recommendations for narrowing China's urban-rural income gap.Understanding and addressing the urban-rural income gap in China is vital for promoting equitable economic growth and achieving the goals of social harmony and development.
