Absztrakt (kivonat)

Food waste is a global problem which has significant social, economic, and environmental consequences. We can see that researchers, politicians, and individuals have all become more conscious of the problem of food waste in the past few years as patterns of food production and consumption have changed. Given that the issue paradoxically exists simultaneously with food scarcity in many regions of the world, it is especially concerning. This study mainly focuses on the influence that consumer knowledge has in either increasing or decreasing food waste. Although there are many variables that lead to food waste, one important factor for change is consumer behavior. Effective reduction methods must consider the degree of consumer knowledge, its characteristics, and their influence on food waste. This study's main goal is to present an in-depth examination of consumer awareness in relation to food waste. This research intends to provide important insights to educational institutions, policymakers, and organizations involved in food waste reduction efforts by examining the current status of consumer awareness, the variables influencing it, and its connections with food waste behaviors. In order to encourage sustainable consumption habits and decrease the financial and environmental costs connected with food waste, this study aims to clarify the nuances of consumer awareness and its role in food waste.
