Absztrakt (kivonat)

The paper aimed to compare the differences and similarities between project managers from different nationalities. I examined the cultural characteristics’ effect on the project managers’ competencies, leadership styles, and the success of the project, and how the success factors change for PMs from different cultures. In today’s business world project management has become an essential tool for developing an organization’s market value and competitiveness. That’s why it is important to know how to deliver projects successfully and to do that you need a project manager in the first place, because a project will most likely result in failure without a project manager. Of course, his or her style and attitude vary from culture to culture, and these differences can be the causes of different results. My general research problem was that I believe that culturally, people approach the same situations differently because of their beliefs or experiences from their history. My question was whether we can learn something from other countries and merge that knowledge into ourselves. In my quantitative research, I use open-ended, closed, ranking, and conditional questions so the participants can express their points of view about the topic while my survey remains numerically measurable. A total of 60 individuals completed the questionnaire from Germany, India, Mexico, and Hungary. Unfortunately, the sample size did not allow me to collect representative data from all the countries surveyed. For more precise and comprehensive results more time and resources are needed to research the topic, allowing for a longer and more precise questionnaire and a larger database. After analysing the collected data, India is the most effective nationality in the field of project management, however, I did not find significant differences between the cultures, and because of that based on my research, the correlation between the culture and the project success does not exist.
