Purpose of the thesisTomake research on digital transformation challenges using stats, internationalresearch, and conducting interviews with leaders who work in digitalization.Not just seeing the issues, but finding solutions, and best practices.Digital transformationGoingfrom analog to digital, decision-makers choose to use certain types of emergingtechnologies, like Cloud, big data, robotic process automation (RPA), orartificial Intelligence (AI). Two biggest obstacles globally were in 2021: lackof IT staff skills, and dependencies on legacy systems. Investingin people’s professional development, having the right leader, empowerment,using digital tools and clear communication are the keys to a successfuldigital transformation. Agile way of workingThenumber one reason why decision makers choose the agile way of working is theshorter “time to market”, so a company could launch a new product or servicefaster.TheAgile Manifesto expresses the values of agile: “Individuals and interactionsover processes and tools. Workingsoftware over comprehensive documentation. Customer collaboration over contractnegotiation. Responding to change overfollowing a plan” Thebiggest obstacles in agile can be company culture, lack of management support,and inconsistent Agile practices. From a tools perspective, the number oneissue is the mixed approach with legacy systems (Waterfall and Agile).Thereal benefits of agile are increased collaboration, better alignment inbusiness needs, better work environment.“Agile at scale is the ability to driveagile at the team level while applying the same sustainable principles,practices, and outcomes at other layers of the organization.” There aredifferent agile frameworks and models, Magyar Telekom chose Spotify model,which is more flexible.TechtalentsNot enough to recruit the right people,but also retain them. Lack of learning and flexibility, insufficient rewards,and recognition for their work are the main factors why people leave theircompanies (HBR). There are more innovative ways for learning like workshops inthe Metaverse or participating in a hackathon.ConclusionTechnologyand tools are just one part of digitalization, the human factor is extremelyimportant, and people are the catalyst of it. An empathetic servant leader, anexecutive who empowers and supports others, a Data Scientist who knows thelatest digital tools, or an Agile Coach who can help adopt the agile mindset.There is no one magic recipe for success, as it is a complex topic. I hope atleast I could introduce some new solutions or exciting stats in my thesis.
