Absztrakt (kivonat)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between internal communication and job satisfaction in Company X. The author developed a questionnaire consisting of 40 questions across seven dimensions to evaluate how employees perceive the quality of internal communication within the organization. The questionnaire was designed to capture both quantitative and qualitative data, and 100 employees voluntarily participated in the study.

To measure employee satisfaction with internal communication, the author used the communication satisfaction questionnaire developed by Downs and Hazen in 1977. A pilot study was conducted with three participants to refine the questionnaire and improve the clarity of the questions before it was distributed. This process ensured that the questionnaire was clear and understandable to all participants and resulted in some slight small changes in the questionnaire.

The collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, including Pearson's correlation coefficients and regression. The results showed that most employees in Company X were satisfied with internal communication and their jobs in general. However, the study found no significant connection between demographic characteristics and job satisfaction and internal communication satisfaction in Company X.

The smallest but still significant correlation coefficient between internal communication dimension and job satisfaction was of Horizontal and Informal Communication. This result suggests that companies should prioritize informal communication channels such as casual conversation among colleagues and supervisors to boost job satisfaction among employees.

One of the dimensions that employees focused on in the open-ended question was supervisory communication, which they deemed important and would like to see improvements in. This finding highlights the need for organizations to focus on improving communication between supervisors and their subordinates to increase job satisfaction.

Another notable finding from the study is that a majority of employees reported an increase in the value placed on internal communication by Company X's management following the COVID-19 pandemic. This suggests that the pandemic may have had a positive impact on internal communication within the company, which resulted in more focus and investment on internal communication of the whole organization by the management.

Finally, the study found a significant and positive relationship between internal communication and job satisfaction, indicating that companies should prioritize their internal communication efforts to maintain a positive relationship with their employees and boost their job satisfaction. It is important to note that the study focused on one organization and had a small sample size, which limits the generalizability of the findings.

In conclusion, the study sheds light on the importance of internal communication in the workplace and its relationship with job satisfaction. The results suggest that companies should prioritize informal communication channels and improve communication between supervisors and their subordinates to increase job satisfaction among employees. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of valuing internal communication during times of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, as it can have a positive impact on internal communication within an organization. Future research could expand on this study by including a larger sample size or focusing on multiple organizations to increase the generalizability of the findings, as the current study only utilized one small sample from one company, which sets limitations to the study.
