Absztrakt (kivonat)

Thepurpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between internalcommunication and job satisfaction in Company X. The author developed aquestionnaire consisting of 40 questions across seven dimensions to evaluatehow employees perceive the quality of internal communication within theorganization. The questionnaire was designed to capture both quantitative andqualitative data, and 100 employees voluntarily participated in the study.Tomeasure employee satisfaction with internal communication, the author used thecommunication satisfaction questionnaire developed by Downs and Hazen in 1977.A pilot study was conducted with three participants to refine the questionnaireand improve the clarity of the questions before it was distributed. Thisprocess ensured that the questionnaire was clear and understandable to all participantsand resulted in some slight small changes in the questionnaire.Thecollected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statisticaltechniques, including Pearson's correlation coefficients and regression. Theresults showed that most employees in Company X were satisfied with internalcommunication and their jobs in general. However, the study found nosignificant connection between demographic characteristics and job satisfactionand internal communication satisfaction in Company X.Thesmallest but still significant correlation coefficient between internalcommunication dimension and job satisfaction was of Horizontal and InformalCommunication. This result suggests that companies should prioritize informalcommunication channels such as casual conversation among colleagues andsupervisors to boost job satisfaction among employees.Oneof the dimensions that employees focused on in the open-ended question wassupervisory communication, which they deemed important and would like to seeimprovements in. This finding highlights the need for organizations to focus onimproving communication between supervisors and their subordinates to increasejob satisfaction.Anothernotable finding from the study is that a majority of employees reported anincrease in the value placed on internal communication by Company X'smanagement following the COVID-19 pandemic. This suggests that the pandemic mayhave had a positive impact on internal communication within the company, whichresulted in more focus and investment on internal communication of the wholeorganization by the management. Finally, the study found a significant and positive relationship between internalcommunication and job satisfaction, indicating that companies should prioritizetheir internal communication efforts to maintain a positive relationship withtheir employees and boost their job satisfaction. It is important to note thatthe study focused on one organization and had a small sample size, which limitsthe generalizability of the findings.Inconclusion, the study sheds light on the importance of internal communicationin the workplace and its relationship with job satisfaction. The resultssuggest that companies should prioritize informal communication channels andimprove communication between supervisors and their subordinates to increasejob satisfaction among employees. Additionally, the study highlights theimportance of valuing internal communication during times of crisis, such asthe COVID-19 pandemic, as it can have a positive impact on internalcommunication within an organization. Future research could expand on thisstudy by including a larger sample size or focusing on multiple organizationsto increase the generalizability of the findings, as the current study onlyutilized one small sample from one company, which sets limitations to the study.
