Abstract

This thesis investigates the changing patterns of trade in Central Asia over the past two decades, focusing on Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. As a region with a rich history as a crossroads of civilizations and trade, Central Asia has experienced significant shifts in trade dynamics and economic relationships in recent times. With the analysis of datasets, such as UN COMTRADE, and secondary sources, this study explores the underlying factors that have shaped the redirection of trade flows in Central Asia and examines the role of regional and international organizations in facilitating trade. The thesis also touches the topic of the opportunities and challenges of increasing regional economic cooperation and the implications for sustainable growth in the region.
