Absztrakt (kivonat)

This research analyses the impact of sanctions on Iran's oil, agriculture, and tourism sectors. The research questions addressed include the effect of the sanctions on the Iranian economy, attempts to ease the sanctions, and the effects of the sanctions on each sector. The research method used is a non-experimental research design that involved a comprehensive review and analysis of secondary sources of data. The main findings indicate that despite various attempts to ease sanctions, the sanctions' impact on Iran's economy remains significant. The study highlights the complexity of the negotiations between Iran and the remaining parties to the JCPOA, and US sanctions on Iran remain in place as of April 2023. Additionally, the findings show that Iran employed various measures to counteract the effects of economic sanctions, including diversifying its economy, violating existing sanctions regimes, and broadening its network of foreign partners.Regarding the impact on specific sectors, the research found that the re-imposition of US sanctions in 2018 has had a significant negative impact on Iran's agriculture and tourism sectors, limiting the ability of foreign companies to invest and making it more challenging for foreign tourists to travel to Iran. Despite this, the lifting of sanctions on Iran's agriculture sector under the JCPOA increased the availability of agricultural inputs, improved agricultural productivity, and allowed Iran to export its agricultural products. Similarly, the lifting of sanctions under the JCPOA led to an increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Iran and paved the way for increased investment in Iran's tourism infrastructure. However, challenges such as poor infrastructure and limited access to credit continued to limit the sector's potential.Overall, the research shows that Iran's economy has faced significant challenges due to sanctions and the pandemic, with a contraction of GDP and a decline in oil exports. However, the country has made efforts to diversify its economy, attract foreign investment, and implement economic reforms. Despite the obstacles, Iran's resilience and determination suggest a potential for a brighter economic future.
