Absztrakt (kivonat)

This study is conducted to investigate the effects of privatization on economic growth in Ghana. In the last two decades, the country has seen many state-owned enterprises change ownership and control into private hands. The study is conducted now, emphasizing how long a respondent has worked with the organization under instigation.

A respondent who has worked with the firm for about a decade would see both sides of the organization before and after privatization. This gives them sufficient knowledge about the organization to make the responses highly relevant. A questionnaire is used, and data is collected from sixty (60) respondents from ten (60) privatized institutions in the country.

The study employed Relative Importance Index (RII) to analyse and rank the measurement of privatization, its effects on organizational efficiency, and economic growth. It was found that the share of GDP of privatized institutions is the most critical measure of the phenomenon; on the effects of privatization on the efficiency of the firms, it was found that accountability was the most crucial parameter in that regard.

Finally, the study revealed that privatization increases the efficiency of the products and services of the organization sold, which positively affects the entire economy in the long run.

The recommendation dawn from the study was that nonperforming state-owned enterprises be privatized to increase their productivity, efficiency, and general contribution to the country's economic growth.
