Thus, trade has undergone a transformation, leading to a decline in the associated and various forms of trade. Afterward, the concept of Global Value Chains (GVCs) has been introduced in many regions. GVCs refer to the process of producing goods or services through a wide range of activities across different countries. According to a number of research, the GVC's effect on the economy provides greater advantages than drawbacks. This piques my interest in doing research on the subject in the context of my home country, the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), which is now classified as the group of the Least Developed Countries (LDC). This research paper will focus on GVCs&nbsp;in the Lao PDR such as the current situation of GVCs in Lao PDR, the influences of GVCs on the Lao economy, and GVCs in the development framework since Lao PDR is a developing country. In particular, the research will focus on the agricultural sector with the most potential in the Lao PDR. Furthermore, there's&nbsp;a case study of a chosen company from the agriculture sector, such as the Dao Heuang Group, in order to go further into the topic.</p><p><span style="font-size: 1rem; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, &quot;Segoe UI&quot;, Roboto, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, Arial, &quot;Noto Sans&quot;, &quot;Liberation Sans&quot;, sans-serif, &quot;Apple Color Emoji&quot;, &quot;Segoe UI Emoji&quot;, &quot;Segoe UI Symbol&quot;, &quot;Noto Color Emoji&quot;;">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In the thesis paper, the author applies a mixed methodology containing both quantitative and qualitative approaches which&nbsp;allow for more insight into the topic. Furthermore, both primary and secondary sources of data are used in the research.</span></p> <p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On the basis of the result, Lao PDR&nbsp;was involved in the Regional Value Chains more than GVCs and its placed in the upstream position and forward linkage&nbsp;because the proportion of DVA is higher than FVA. Also, the&nbsp;primary and low-technology manufacturing sectors in Laos are the sectors that have the largest comparative advantage, as determined by RCA's calculations. So the sector that should participate in GVC are mainly the primary sector such as agriculture products: paddies, cassava, coffee, maize…Coffee is one of the prioritized products because it can join the GVCs as raw ingredients and beverages as high return. In conclusion, Laos still has a lot of challenges in GVCs participation. Fortunately, the Lao PDR&nbsp;has a wealth of natural resources and a high potential for agriculture sectors, which can influence a greater proportion of GVC participation. Especially, if the raw products can be further processed locally.</p><br><p></p>
