Absztrakt (kivonat)

<p dir="ltr" style="text-align:left;"></p><p><i>Measuring comparative advantage propounds several issues. Different calculating methods miss different important contributing factors, when measuring a sector’s comparative advantage in a country. In this research, the Balassa index is going to be used for measuring revealed comparative advantage, although it has its limitations, it still serves as base for many specialized literature and research in the field of foreign trade and global value chains. Participation in global value chains means that a country can produce an output that can be used as an intermediate input for a final good. During the assembling process, the country can re-import the previously exported output which has been changed or added to, thus distorting the foreign trade data. To this end, a new calculating method was considered, called Trade in Value Added (TiVA), which excludes all re-imports from the calculation. This method enables to have a different look on the foreign trade data of a country. In my research I would like to shed light on the differences between the conventional and the TiVA foreign trade data, thus exploring if the Hungarian economic policy supports the right sectors, in which it has a comparative advantage in.</i></p><br><p></p>
