Absztrakt (kivonat)

In my research thesis I decided to focus on the tourism sector particularly in Hungary and the effect of the 2020 global crisis, caused by Covid19 pandemic, on the touristic industrial scales and growth. It is hard to deny that the tourism sector was always one of the biggest shares in Hungarian market and one of the most crucial contributions to Hungarian GDP. Located in the middle of Europe, Hungary attracts thousands of tourists with beautiful nature and competitive prices. That is the reason why Airbnb business became the most popular and profitable sector, which provides a good quality - price ratio for travelers of different backgrounds. The terrible and unexpected Covid19 pandemic which led to worldwide economic crisis and extremely high unemployment rate heavily affected the tourism sector as well. All tourism sectors, including hotel business, flights, restaurants and Airbnb apartments were under big danger of shutting down and losing revenue. In this study I would like to focus more on the AirBnb business sector and how the Covid19 crisis affects the number of travelers and reservations. The objective of the thesis is to give an insight into the beginning of the pandemic. The study includes information about crisis classification within the tourism sector and examples from human history. Consequently, the existing previous crises were under intense scrutiny, as I believe, understating the similar case in the past will be the key to the Covid19 crisis solution. The situation within the tourism sector development in Hungary before the Covid19 outbreak was thoroughly analyzed and compared to the period of the pandemic beginning as well. The research was conducted with a survey, distributed on online platforms such as social media and email. The results were collected in October 2020. The mixed method of a qualitative and quantitative analysis was used in the questionnaire in order to describe the most transparent and trustful past situation within the pandemic. The open-ended questions were placed in the questionnaire to gather quantitative data, while multiple - choice questions were used for empirical and numerical data. The result of the research was based on the data collection, mentioned above, and that is what makes this research work reliable and valid. Keywords: Tourism sector, Pandemic negative impact, AirBnb business, Crisis in tourism history.
