Theautomotive replacement market is an essential complementary market of theautomotive sector as it is vital for consumers to keep their vehicles in a conditionthat is safe to operate. This study attempts to uncover whether this marketsegment is viable and profitable for different sized businesses alike, by comparingthe economic activities of two specifically selected companies: one retailerand one wholesaler. There seems to be an informational void on this market, interms of the commercial participants, there is no recent data or study thatwould focus ont he implications the automotive market faces due to thehardships of the local automotive industry. All of the available researcheshave the auomotive replacement market on the edge of their scope, barelyexamining the topic. As it is a comparative study with a small sample size, thequalitative and multi-method approach was determined to be the most appropiate.A complementary SWOT matrix and a few important economic indicators were alsogenerated to assist in analyzing the data presented and drawing the proper conclusions.It was quite a surprise to learn that the automotive replacement market has hadthe same number of retail type establishments for at least five years, whichgoes to show how stable this market segment actually is, despite the number ofrecent global events disrupting it. The Covid-19 did not impact theparticipants of this market financially as deeply as it did on other markets,as the vehicles were still in some use during the pandemic too. A mainrevelation was that the importance of the geographical location of a businesson this market sector is heightened quite much.
