The Hospitality industry has always been one of the most competitive sectors in the world, therefore, understanding travellers’ behaviour is undoubtedly a vital tool for hoteliers to maximize revenue and profit. Furthermore, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the need to attract tourists has become a matter of survival for lodging businesses. This research is designed to help illustrate the Vietnamese domestic market’s favourable product components.

The primary goal of the research paper is to investigate the buying behaviours of young travellers in Vietnam in the contemporary context, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study aims to answer three research questions: Which lodging criteria are of Vietnamese young travellers’ highest concern? What are the levels of importance of the studied hotel attributes? How does price affect travellers’ buying decisions compared to other criteria?

The research consists of 2 steps. First of all, a pole-ranking survey will be sent out to find out the top 5 attributes that customers most concern about when considering an accommodation. From there, a choice-based conjoint analysis will be conducted with respondents of 18 to 42 years old living in Vietnam. The survey contains 12 tasks presented by Conjointly to illustrate a real-life shopping scenario where participants have to evaluate the products and make a buying decision. The result of this study will show which feature is most appealing to the younger travellers in Vietnam and how Vietnamese visitors are willing to trade off certain benefit for their preferences.
