KÍRA KOVÁCS, KATA KOLOZSVÁRI MÓNIKA BASA Active semester 1 International Business Economics BGE KKK Supervisor: Dr. Szilágyi Judit Beáta assistant professor BGE KKK THE INFLUENCE OF THE FAST FASHION MARKET ON THE WORLD AND THE ECONOMY The purpose of our research is to demonstrate the economic and environmental restraints of fast fashion, amidst of the global impact of consumer society. In terms of both its financial impact and the number of people it employs, the fashion industry is significant on a worldwide scale. However, its detrimental effects on the environment and global poverty as a result of insufficient sustainable practices are equally important. The psychological addiction to the increase in dopamine causes constant shopping, by virtue of the preeminent connections of the various contributing aspects offered. Due to globalisation and the spread of the online marketplace, the demand for cheap, more accessible clothing has increased thus fast fashion gained popularity in a breviloquent amount of time. This has resulted in a major shift in the economy that in a great measure impacted the environment into the bargain. We would like to highlight the level of sustainability as well as the profit-oriented mindset of this new phenomenon. The inhumane environment for workers of the major producers and how this treatment has impacted the global market. In our research, we will compare specific brands (Zara, Shein, H&M, Levi’s, Stella McCartney, Vetta, Patagonia) by the sensibility of their motives and their contribution to the fashion industry. The vital consulting questions would be answered with the help of various online articles, propagative and informative studies and theses, and research. We would wish to encourage and inspire the reader of our paper, to be more mindful of the authoritative consuming habits and the money invested into sustainable and quality pieces for their wardrobe.
