NGUYEN THI QUYNH NHU Supervisor: Active semester 5 Dr. KOVÁCS ILDIKÓ Finance and Accountancy associate professor BGE KVIK BGE KVIK ONLINE COMMUNICATION ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY IN FMCG INDUSTRY 1. Questions examined in the paper • Why is sustainability important nowadays • Which SDGs (sustainable development goals), based on the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations, do FMCG companies target to • How do FMCG (Fast-moving consumer goods) companies indicate their sustainability efforts via online communication (social media) • Is sustainability one of their priorities nowadays • How do they cope with both sustainability and economic crisis nowadays 2. Research methodology used in the paper In this research, I will use the secondary methodology to do research, analyse, and compare about activities related to sustainability in social media of 3 companies in FMCG industry. Besides, this research also mentions about which SDG (Sustainable Development Goals based on 17 Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations) these companies use in their social networking. I will do research in a case study of 3 FMCG companies which are Coca Cola, Unilever, and DIAGEO. With regards to the online communication, I would analyse their activities in these platforms such as website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok. 3. Short presentation of the research results All 3 companies, Coca-Cola, Unilever, and Diageo have effectively used their social channels and websites to deliver their sustainable development goals and solutions, which is not only support for their branding awareness but also their competitive advantage, compliance with regulatory requirements, increased longevity of transformation investments, revenue growth, and so on. After researching sustainable development goals of each firm, it is clear that Coca-Cola launch many campaigns related to environment, climate or future planet. Unilever has many strategies target to empower people, especially the young, our future leaders. Diageo prefer promoting positive drinking, inclusion and diversity and pioneer grain-to-glass sustainability. In general, these companies have solid commitment with sustainability target aligned to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. These targets build on their long and ambitious track record on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. Even in the multiple crisis nowadays, companies continue aligning to the United Nations General Assembly sustainable development goals (SDGs) set in 2015 and intended to be achieved by the year 2030.
