Absztrakt (kivonat)
Our topic we have chosen is named “The relationship between Georgia and the EU,” however the point we are aiming to prove with our research paper, is why Georgia has been unfairly treated by the EU, during their attempts to join the intergovernmental organization. We will be asking and answering numerous questions, such as why does Georgia want to be in the EU What are the existing relations between Georgia and the EU How is Georgia’s situation similar or different to other EU candidate status nations Why were those other nations granted candidacy status, when Georgia was not What has the Georgian government done to try gain candidate status What are the latest assessments of the situation following the Russia-Ukraine conflict Our methods of research for this paper include the use of the internet, reading news articles, online books, online video sources, different independent sources of information on blogs, and making sure to gain insight from both sides in order to fully analyze the situation. The uniqueness of our research methods, however, is that one of us is from Georgia. His name is Alexander Javelidze, and he provides us with firsthand experience in regards to the matter, as well as information that may not be mainstream for reasons unknown (discovering the source of these reasons are a part of the aim of the paper as well). Initial research has given reason to believe that the process of Georgia’s candidate status for the EU thus far, could be labeled as unjust. The greatest proof of this, is how the Association Agreement between Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and the EU has been handled.
