Absztrakt (kivonat)

This exploratory research investigates the Hungarian road toll systems in their entire historical scope, but with a focus on examining current digitalization solutions and customer satisfaction. Another focus is to examine how changes in the system affected freight transport, its costs, toll revenues and road quality overtime. Through secondary research, it reviews the construction and financing system of the highway network up to the present day, including the various toll collection companies and public or private investment methods. After that, the paper examines the extent and reasons for the changes in the income and that, what extent the individual changes are visible on the investment, the road quality side and what effect it had on the cost and distribution of goods transportation among. As the research dives into the operation of the systems, it describes which digital technologies have been incorporated and how they are used in the toll collection systems. The primary research is interested in the habits, opinions, and level of satisfaction of the users in relation to the current system and finally, the research results are concluded, and the paper gives suggestions based on the results of the public opinion survey.
