Absztrakt (kivonat)

The topic of my thesis is  the trends of cultural tourism with a based on Nyíregyháza. When choosing my thesis topic, it was important to write about a subject that is close to my heart. Nyíregyháza is important to me because I was born there and lived there for a long time. Culture plays an important role not only in our lives, but also in tourism. Nyíregyháza's tourism is also largely determined by: a cultural quarter has not been created in the city for nothing. Nyíregyháza is located in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county and is also the seat of the county and is only 2 hours' drive from Budapest. As a road and railway junction, the town was a major hub of the eastern part of historical Hungary at the beginning of the last century, which after Trianon and then decades of socialism, it gradually faded into grey, also due to the lack of severed border links. This is one of the reasons why the city does not get enough attention. It has undergone a number of improvements and innovations that have brought an improvement in the number of tourists coming here, but I think this is a fraction of what it could be in terms of what the city has to offer. Nyíregyháza is best known for its zoo, which is famous in Europe, but there are also many other attractions and quality events to make everyday life more interesting: concerts, festivals, theatre performances. There are many ways to make a city attractive to visitors, but one of the most important step is to make sure that people of all ages can find attractions and activities that interest them. The region's specificities and characteristics must be given priority. In the case of Nyíregyháza, this is culture, which festivals, gastronomic events and attractions are based on. The town is home to Hungary's largest regional open-air ethnographic museum, Sóstói Múzeumfalu (the Sóstó Museum Village), which opened its doors to visitors in 1979.
