Absztrakt (kivonat)

Research, data, statistics, and documents published show that tourism has been the largest industry and the biggest employer in the world, aiding major capitalization of all resource categories including human, natural, monetary, and cultural resources. The World Travel & Tourism Council reported that in 2019, prior to the pandemic, the tourism sector created one in four new jobs created worldwide, providing 10.3% of all jobs in the world, and generated 10.3% of the overall global GDP. The pandemic reduced this devastatingly of course, but the tourism industry has been steadily making up for the losses and building back to past numbers. When considering the tourism industry, the impact it has is among the most important factors to take into account, due to the magnitude it has on the world. The impact tourism has, both positive and negative, can be broken down into three main categories: economic, environmental, and social. This thesis will be focusing on the effects of the latter, the social impact of tourism. Entrepreneurship is a major moving force behind the tourism sector, due to its quick adaptability, ability to affect people directly and deeply, creating social value, and its influence on the economy on all ends of the scale, from the smallest to the largest scope.I elected to research this topic due to my personal background in social matters, interest in the impact one field can have on a larger scope, and desire to understand Hungary’s development to modern practices and approaches. I believe that Hungary lacks much-needed structure in an overwhelming amount of fields due to the disorganization caused by an extended history of lack of funding, the mentality of bringing change without forethought, and the Hungarian people not working together sufficiently. These issues, most notably the mentality of the individuals have begun undergoing a slow improvement in recent years, which I believe to be largely due to the younger generation entering the workforce with new resolve, passion, and more cohesive, internationally inclusive education.
