Absztrakt (kivonat)

This paper focuses on the economic contribution of MICE to the national Gross Domestic Product of Hungary through the years and gives a small hint on what might happen with current trends. It seeks to highlight the gravity of the industry, based on the tourism destination competitiveness index and analyzing the trends in MICE related professional tourism in Hungary by using data from the Hungarian Convention Bureau and the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. The paper will also feature the point of view of the MICE related experts through an interview concluded one-by-one. The in-depth interview was held with people who have relevant knowledge on the subject and the current situation of the hotel meetings industry. The importance of MICE tourism on an international and national level is also researched through many accessible statistics and data. With these attainable statistics and opinions, we would get a glimpse of the importance of this tourism sector’s relevance and its contribution to the Hungarian Gross Domestic Product
