ABSTRACT For a country's economy to meet the expectations of the Nation's Development, it must have faster economic growth and development. This is a necessary step to improve the quality of life of people. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are essential to any government's goal of economic prosperity, and Ghana is no different. This study tries to find out more about the general benefits of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), how the owners or entrepreneurs of these businesses think about them, and how to keep them going in Ghana and make them a big part of the country's growth. It also tries to emphasize how vital small businesses are to the economy, not just in terms of jobs but also in terms of its growth. In this study, 300 copies of the questionnaires were given to different entrepreneurs to find out what they thought about their role in the economic development of Ghana. There were two hundred and ninety-eight (298) copies representing (99%) of the questionnaires that were retrieved, but only two (2) representing (1%) were not retrieved. In this study, questionnaires and interviews were used to gather information. The primary statistical method used to analyze the data for this study was simple percentage. Through their contributions, such as employment generation, Gross Domestic Product Growth, and Increase in Tax Revenue in Ghana, the results show that SMEs make their operations a significant pivot of economic growth in Ghana. For a country, no matter its economic ideology, to have meaningful and long-term growth, enough attention must be paid to the spread of economic activities through entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized businesses.
