Absztrakt (kivonat)

The appearance of the term “cultural tourism” is one of the proofs of how the linkages between tourism and culture are nowadays becoming more important in the tourism industry. The UNWTO has reaffirmed that cultural tourism is a major element of international tourism. Other than that, according to the OECD, around 40% of global international trips are influenced by the product of cultural tourism. Due to the significance and value of cultural tourism in Indonesia and Thailand, this research focuses on the Borobudur Temple and Wat Phra Si Sanphet Temple in Indonesia and Thailand, respectively. The research's objective will be made apparent by these research questions; ”Does the cultural tourism in Indonesia and Thailand being interpreted well?”; ”What are the impacts of how they currently interpret the destinations?”; “Is cultural Tourism in Indonesia and Thailand sustainable?”; “What aspects are already sustainable and not sustainable in these cultural tourism destinations?” and “What can be done to make them more sustainable?”. The questions will be answered through the indicators which are listed for the 3 dimensions: social, economic, and environmental. By answering all these questions. The research findings indicate that the historical cultures of both destinations, Borobudur temple, and Wat Phra Si Sanphet temple, are not adequately interpreted, resulting in a failure to meet several of the cultural tourism sustainability indicators. Other than that, it is also shown that the feedback of digital and non-digital interpretation given by each management helps them to improve some of the sustainability indicators. This research may aid in future government and DMO planning. We will also learn from travelers' perspectives on their satisfaction with the area's sustainability level, by providing interpretation for both domestic and international tourism. According to the results, it is preferable for each management to properly interpret numerous parts of the destination in order to assist the destination in becoming sustainable.
