Theme park as a smart destination Abstract The wave of the internet has swept the world. As one of the most interactive economic activities, tourism will inevitably be transformed due to the revolutionary changes in information technology. The concept of smart tourism has emerged as the times require. With the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AR), virtual reality (VR), and other technologies, the internet has not only changed the way of travel but also changed the way of value creation in the tourism industry. Smart tourism technology's rapid growth creates new potential for tourist development. More destinations are using it to attract more tourists and enhance their trip experience. Due to the complex institutional ecosystem in the tourism industry, the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders lack clarity, so the concept of smart tourism is still vague in practice. Theme Park has played an essential part in the hospitality and tourism industry. The theme park is like a mini version of a tourist town, but many problems currently plague it. In this paper, we propose to input the idea of "smart tourism" into the theme park, taking Shanghai's Disneyland as an example. In this paper, the current problems in China's theme parks will be presented to understand the idea of building them as smart tourism destinations. Moreover, research on using smart technology and smart tourism to help improve theme parks' operations will be present. The main focus is placed on Smart Tourism Destinations' four significant goals: enhancing the theme park experience, increasing sustainable behavior and management in the theme park, ensuring benefits for both local communities and tourists, and improving loyalty.
