Absztrakt (kivonat)

SME's forms more than half of a countrys Gross Domestic Product, and in order for the country to generates more income it's important for the digitization of this sector.SMEs operating in Ghana in the past years have performed creditably to a large extent. However, they might have fallen short of the expected impact on economic transformation. The government is equally improving its national IT infrastructure so as to attract investors into the telecommunications, media and business sectors of the country. However, the non-adoption or slow paced technological integration into the SMEs in Ghana with the aim of increasing productivity is being attributed to the absence of knowledge and skills in addition to limited sensitization on the full scope of benefits SMEs can gain from digitalization. Unfortunately, the gap in infrastructure, security, knowledge, and the cost associated with digitalization have been key deterrents to its full adoption by businesses in the country, although others have taken the initiative and are raking significant benefits from it.  Although the government has instigated some level of interventions the adoption and proliferation of IT in the sector is still in the developmental stages. In this research, we found out from business owners what they thought the introduction of initialization would benefits them or not.
